My past decade really just has been FULL of moving, learning and growing. As a result, I have a stockpile of wedding photography goodness to share with you! And more to come as I adventure through Montana and beyond with my camera!
This decade has been one of reflection because— I am a nostalgic person. It is fun to rummage through my earliest shoots and compare my evolving photography style now to what it was then. I’ve learned so much since my early wedding photographer days!
This blog is a compilation of many things, including but not limited to:
A. Photography tips for any and all people planning on being on the other side of my camera for family, engagement, bridal session and/or wedding and elopement adventures. Same for small business owners wanting to do content shoots for their websites or social media accounts!
B. An educational source for all of my fellow intimate wedding and elopement photographers looking to compare journeys and notes.
C. Jared and I moved from Wales to Montana! We plan on sharing many an adventure together while we are here and while you can always follow along on my Instagram (@erikamayphotography), I thought I might give the occasional more detailed account of happenings here.
So, whether you are a local Helena dweller or other adventurous human looking for a wedding, elopement or family photographer, an adventurous couple from abroad looking for someone to shoot some gorgeous engagement or bridal photos in or near Montana, another photographer comparing notes, or just my mom wanting to look at my recent shenanigans— Stay tuned and enjoy!

Adventures of Erika and Jared
Hours before Spencer proposed to Mary, Spencer and a lovely handful of good friends set up twinkle lights and photographs along a wintry path in Salt Lake City, UT. There was laughing, a practice run or two, a delightful amount of powdery snow, and excitement-- So much excitement. Spencer had me come as they were setting up so I could scope out the proposal location and determine where the best light and angles would be for the proposal itself.
Mary arrived, and Spencer had me meet her at the car to document her walk down the path. As each step took her towards her soon to be fiance (spoiler alert- she said yes :) ), the air was thick with emotion. Mary approached the end of the twinkle-light speckled path, where strands of light lined twine met photographs taken throughout Mary and Spencer's courtship. Spencer stepped out from a hidden bend, with the biggest grin on his face. He walked her to where he planned to propose, both Spencer and Mary full of what I can only describe as joy.
I loved every second of this proposal photoshoot. The light(s), the feel of the atmosphere as the sun set, and especially the love. This is the kind of goodness I love most getting to document--- That which is truly being felt and experienced by the people I photograph.
This kind of sturf is the reason I am a wedding and elopement photographer.
